Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per month
Qualifications: Open to students of all ages
Requirements: 1) Proficient in English 2) Attuned to current affairs 3) Able to commit to the time requirements

RedefySG is a non-profit teen journalism organisation. We seek to provide youths in Singapore a platform to voice out on social affairs.

Vision
RedefySG is a branch journalism organisation of Redefy, an international youth organisation.
  • A platform to voice out
Discrimination and injustice are increasingly defining the society we live in.  RedefySG serves as an outlet for us to speak out against ignorance, to empower the marginalised, to hold those in power accountable for their actions.

  •  Founded by teens
We are a diverse group of teenagers who are passionate about social issues. It is imperative that teens’ opinions are considered in today’s public discourse in order for teens’ needs to be understood as well as for teens to act as future agents of change. Top-down changes tend to benefit the privileged and powerful, hence teens have a responsibility to initiate bottom-up changes that benefit all of us.

  • For all Singaporeans
Journalism is the cornerstone of modern society and a pillar upholding democracy. Yet, the occurrence of state-regulated media in Singapore is antithetical to the core value of journalism: freedom. Through quality journalism, RedefySG aims to contribute unspoken topics to the dialogue.

Roles and Responsibilities

From identifying pertinent social issues for our Content Writers to explore, to polishing drafts of writing pieces, we are looking for writers with keen eyes with details and a strong grasp with the English language. Editorial Managers are tasked with the important responsibility of setting the tone of our publications as well as establishing consistency. Hence, we would greatly appreciate it if you could be flexible with your time to accommodate our publishing schedule. You can also choose to concurrently be a Content Writer.

Research and Marketing Volunteer - The Foodbank Singapore

2/16/2017

Picture
Cause: Fighting Poverty and Hunger
Time commitment: Once a month
Place: 39 Keppel Road, Singapore

To make it really simple, a food bank is a place where companies or people can come to deposit or donate their unused or unwanted food which will then be collected and allocated to the needy through a network of member beneficiaries such as family service centres, various types of homes, soup kitchens, and other VWOs.As the price of food continues to rise, many middle to low income families have problems putting food on the table as salaries are not increasing as quickly. Moreover, based on our observation, we do know that there are pockets of unused food within the food industry that can most certainly be put to better use.

What will you do? Each month, we will be posting several informational posts on our Facebook page to share on the issues of food wastage and hunger issues, be it locally or globally. Here is a sample of the template that the volunteers would submit to us each month. You can research from home, and whenever you have spare time! We will also need you to phrase a summary of the article or video found for us to post.

Who can do this? Anyone who has access to the Internet and basic Microsoft Word skills

Whats the impact? Education and awareness to the online community
