South Central Community Family Service Centre provides support to the low-income and vulnerable families in the community. While giving support to families who seek help in financial, social or relationship issues, we encourage community self-help and cooperation.
Volunteers are required to provide homework support to children from low income families.
These children are from local Primary Schools and are between the ages of 7 to 12.
Subjects include English, Mathematics and Science.
Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on weekdays
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Saturdays
You need to be willing to familiarise yourself with the local school curriculum and syllabus.
Lot of patience to work with the children to not only provide homework support but to befriend and encourage them to work towards achievable educational goals.
What's the impact?
You will play a key role in helping children from disadvantaged family backgrounds discover the job and meaning of learning and help to motivate them to achieve reasonable educational goals. Your role is not only focused on homework support but more importantly one of a befriender.
